Announcing the Release of MAK RTI 5.0.1

by Jim Kogler, VP of Products

We are pleased to announce the release of MAK RTI 5.0.1, a maintenance update that addresses several small issues discovered in the recent MAK RTI 5.0 release.

MAK has been rolling out support for IEEE-1516-2025 (HLA 4) throughout the summer and fall with new product releases. First the MAK RTI 5.0 was released introducing support for HLA 4 in June. This fall we have added HLA 4 support to each new MAK ONE 2025 product released.

HLA 4 is a significant evolution of the HLA standard, and we expect broad adoption across our customer base over the next few years. As always, no system is perfect and HLA 4 is new; even with extensive automated testing, some issues can slip through. As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality products and support, we are issuing this maintenance release to keep everyone running smoothly and to continue polishing our HLA 4 implementation.

In addition to bug fixes, this release includes several notable improvements:

  • We added a Python interface to the federate protocol, available for free on GitHub for use in your own applications. Expect this capability to continue to expand in future months.
  • Official IEEE API files for HLA 4. Although 5.0.1 was finalized slightly before the HLA 4 specification was published, this version now uses the official API files.
  • Advanced Wireshark dissector files for MAK RTI message inspection, enabling more powerful debugging and troubleshooting.
