Some years ago, a few of us at MAK embarked on a project to write a FOM Editor. For years, people could find and use the HTML MAK FOM Editor on our website (www.mak.com/fe). Recently, MAK retired that tool and developed the next generation of the MAK FOM Editor (MAK FOM Editor 2), which we now distribute for free on the MAK Bonus page.

31 years ago (on September 4th, 1994), I started at MAK. A few days later, I found myself in SAIC’s Warbreaker facility working with Dan Brockway to create the Warbreaker Terrain. Back then, terrain generation was a painstaking manual process which often resulted in geo-typical terrains reassembling operational areas (who remembers MAKLand 😊).

MAK ONE 2025 release season is upon us, and we're excited to announce that we’ve officially released MAK RTI 5.0, which supports the new IEEE 1516-2025 standard that the community has affectionately named HLA 4. Let's say you're a solutions engineer and you've been tasked with creating a helicopter door gunner simulator. You’ve been using VR-Engage in many roles (helicopter pilot, LAV driver, UAV sensor operator), but there is no Door Gunner role for helicopters and you're unsure where to start actually building it. You know how to use the existing roles within VR-Engage and have an idea about how VR-Engage uses a big library of components that make up those roles… but putting it all together to create this custom role seems daunting.
